Description: Initially triserial, becoming biserial, subcylindrical, with a low, rimmed terminal aperture. Characterised particularly by the surface ornament of dense small pustules and papillae giving an overall prickly appearance.
Distribution: Waitakian, Upper Otaian, Altonian (abundant) to Waiauan. A characteristically shallow water species which appears in abundance in inner shelf sandy facies of the east coast of the South Island in the Altonian but it has also been recorded there from a few upper Otaian localities. It is present also in basal Waitemata Group strata at Oneroa, Waiheke Island, for which a Waitakian age is currently adopted.
