.

Reference: Hornibrook, Brazier & Strong 1989, p.102, Fig. 22:19.

Synonymy: 1967, Vaginulinopsis carinata, N.Z. jl. geol. geophys 10(4): 997, fig. 16-18;

not Vaginulinopsis soluta carinata (Silvestri 1898), Accad. Pont. Nuovi Lincei, Mem. Roma, Italia 15: 166, pl. 2, fig. 8.

Description: Distinguished from V. recta (Karrer) by the broad shape with a prominent initial half coil, a wide peripheral carina and strongly limbate sutures.

Distribution: Clifdenian to Opoitian.

Comment: A new name, Vaginulinopsis zeacarinata Kennett, is proposed here to replace V. carinata Kennett which is a homonym of V. soluta carinata (Silvestri 1898). This being a contribution from Dr James P. Kennett, retains the authorship of V. zeacarinata in his name.
