Synonymy: New species in Hornibrook, Brazier & Strong, 1989.

Description: Short triserial initial part followed by a long uniserial stage. They are typically costate, are round in cross section, and have a tubular lipped aperture with an internal toothplate. Distinct megalo- and microspheric forms with a short triserial stage and usually 4 rectilinear chambers with a rimmed apertural spout. Chambers globular with incised sutures and distinct vertical costae, often broken up into papillae.

Comparison: Distinguished from R. prisca by its longer uniserial stage and from R. postprandia and R. striatissima by its smaller size, different ratio of triserial to uniserial stages and presence of individuals with papillate tests.

Distribution: Uppermost Runangan to Lower Whaingaroan. Lower part of Globigerina angiporoides zone. Widespread in mudstone facies of the basal Whaingaroan, found together with Cibicides parki and Uvigerina bortotara. Also recorded in uppermost Runangan.
