Description: Smooth and flat dorsally, conical ventrally, large apertural plates projecting into a deep umbilicus, smaller and more planoconical than G. allani and more tightly coiled with about eight chambers in the final whorl.
Distribution: Whaingaroan to Nukumaruan.
Comment: In the Arnold Series, an earlier form of this lineage, distinguished by a tendency for the whorls on the dorsal side to be more spirally coiled, with more distinctly excavated chambers, was separated by Finlay, as Gyroidina scrobiculata. Also G. subzelandicus Hornibrook (1961) (Waitakian to Waiauan).
