Description: Populations are variable and include a range of individuals, some with compressed margins, others more inflated with broadly rounded margins like G. puncticulata. Last whorl typically has four chambers, and is distinctly umbilicate, with a finely hispid surface. Aperture a high lipped arch. Sutures are gently recurved on ventral side, more strongly recurved on spiral side. Distinguished from typical G. puncticulata populations by greater marginal compression, and a more strongly lipped aperture. Distinguished from accompanying G. inflata populations by the smaller, more compressed, regularly 4 chambered test.

Distribution: Upper Waipipian? Mangapanian to Nukumaruan in North Island. Common in the early Pliocene off the southern part of the South Island.

Comment: Often occurs together with the cold water mollusc, Chlamys delicatula.
