Description: Distinguished by the unusually strongly embracing chambers on the ventral side together with the very low, arched aperture, relatively compressed gently biconvex shape and a hispid keel. Four to four and a half chambers in final whorl, much more depressed than the planoconical G. mons..
Distribution: Uppermost Kapitean (G. sphericomiozea-zone) to Opoitian.
Comment: Appears earliest within the range-zone of G. sphericomiozea in DSDP Site 284 coiling predominantly dextrally and becomes dominantly sinistral near the FAD of G. puncticulata. Mainly an index for Opoitian.
