1984, Hornibrook, Palaeogeogr. palaeoclim. palaeoecol. 46 (1- 3): 107-117, fig. 1, 2 (Globoconella).

Description: Distinguished from G. conomiozea, by its more pronounced planoconical shape with the chambers typically produced as a sharp peak on the ventral side. Whereas C. conomiozea is usually umbilicate, the more tightly coiled G. mons has more strongly embracing chambers which tend to obscure the umbilicus and constrict the aperture which is not so highly arched as in G. conomiozea. Typically four chambers in final whorl and a strong peripheral keel. Often difficult to identify specimens with much secondary calcification.

Distribution: Uppermost Kapitean (G. sphericomiozea-zone) to lower Opoitian. Appears earliest within the range-zone of Globorotalia sphericomiozea within the lowest reversed interval of the Gilbert Chron at Blind River (in Kennett's samples, personal observation) and in Mangapoike River.

Comment: Earliest populations in DSDP site 284 are predominantly sinistral, later dextral. LAD just overlaps with FAD of G. crassaformis in lower Opoitian.
