Description: One of several similar taxa which occur fairly consistently in the Oligocene and Miocene. G. semivera has four to five chambers in the final whorl.
Comparison: Individuals of this group with four chambers were separated by Jenkins as G. nana pseudocontinuosa which typically has a highly arched aperture. Hoskins groups these taxa as variants and synonyms of G. mayeri (see under G. mayeri).
Distribution: Whaingaroan to Clifdenian (Jenkins).
Comment: Kennett & Srinivasan derive G. semivera from G. opima and give its range as Zone P21 (Late Oligocene) to N8 (Early Miocene).
