Description: A small Globorotalia, four chambers in last whorl, sutures recurved on spiral side, nearly radial on involute side which is strongly convex and rounded, with a small umbilicus; uncoiled side varies from gently convex to distinctly spiral, surface finely hispid and porous; margins moderately compressed, unkeeled; aperture a low, rimmed arch at base of last chamber.

Comparison: The holotype of G. cibaoensis has a more compressed margin with a distinct rim. G. juanai resembles G. scitula but is more inflated overall and New Zealand Upper Miocene populations coil predominantly sinistrally whereas G. scitula coils predominantly dextrally.

Distribution: Tongaporutuan to Kapitean.

Comment: Subsequent revision of DSDP Site 284 records Hornibrook (1982) indicate that the LAD of G. juanai is within the lower part of Core 14, that is, in the rangezone of G. sphericomiozea as shown by Hornibrook (1984).
