Synonymy: 1965, N.Z. jl. geol. geophys. 8(5): 834, fig. 1,2;

1971, Jenkins, N.Z. Geol. Surv. paleont. bull. 42: 160, 161 (Globigerina angipora; Subbotina).

Description: Variable in shape but typically with three or four globular chambers in final whorl; aperture a low, thickly rimmed slit situated in the umbilicus. The chambers tend to be elongated radially and the final chamber usually overlaps the umbilical area.

Distribution: Kaiatan to middle Whaingaroan.

Comment: G. angiporoides is one of the dominant species in Upper Eocene and Lower Oligocene temperate assemblages. Its extinction level in the middle of the Whaingaroan Stage is one of the most useful datum levels in the Middle Oligocene and the G. angiporoides-zone of Jenkins (1966) plus the upper part of the G. brevis-zone, are the equivalent of the Lower Whaingaroan Stage.
